Kris Orlowski & Andrew Joslyn - "All My People Go (Budo Remix)"

Budo, the small, peppy Seattle-born producer who has been working and performing with rapper Grieves, has explored a new sound with his latest remix. He takes on a tender folk sing-along from singer/songwriter Kris Orlowski and violinist Andrew Joslyn. His remix of "All My People Go" adds huge echoing snares and an enormous bass presence to make the song anthemic enough to part the Red Sea.

The Best Remixes of 2012

A good remix not only puts an interesting spin on another's work; it also is a solid song in its own right.  With remixes as plentiful as ever, it is impossible to ignore them. Therefore we have decided to let you in on our favorite remixes of the year. Here are the remixed tracks that stuck in our heads for days, and made something good into something great. These aren't just songs with dubstep womps thrown in; they are tasteful renditions done thoughtfully. Don't worry, there are still some huge drops! Up and comer James Egbert had a phenomenal year, being thrust into the spotlight with some of the best remixes we have heard in a while. For more, check out the Remixers of the Year. Give these tracks a spin.

Remixers Of The Year: Adventure Club

This year, not surprisingly, was rife with remixes. And with the end of the year comes awards. So for the first time, along with our typical year-end lists, we include this award for Remixers of the Year. The Canadian duo Adventure Club blew up this year and produced the finest remixes out there for artists ranging from Thrice to Foxes while maintaining their trademark laidback dubstep sound. Their wobble enhances songs' low end punch as opposed to destroying it.

They were brought to my attention when they took James Vincent McMorrow's "We Don't Eat" to a whole new level while maintaining the singer's astounding voice and place at the forefront of the track. Since then, they have perfected their art and will continue to melt faces (in the mellowest way possible) for years to come. The best part? All their tracks are free.

Thrice - Broken Lungs (Adventure Club Dubstep Remix)

Tunesday: Ellie Goulding - "Your Song (Blackmill Remix)"

Ellie Goulding has been dipping her toe into electronic territory with her new singles, probably influenced quite a bit by her boyfriend Skrillex. But long before they were dating, she sang a cover of Elton John's "Your Song" that got the dubstep treatment. Liquid dubstep producer Blackmill chopped it up, added some wobbling bass, a clackety beat, and catchy synths. An extremely tasteful, well-done remix of an already lovely song.

Tunesday: Katy Perry - "E.T. (Noisia Remix)"

I wouldn't call myself a Katy Perry fan, but a while ago, I heard a song that made me doubt myself. Her Kanye West-starring hit "E.T." was remixed by Dutch trio NOISIA (For a neat trick, rotate your screen 180° and see what their name is now!). The resulting track blew my mind. It takes the song, smashes it up, and adds one of the largest drops known to man. While it may be embarrassing to blast Katy Perry in the car, this will be worth it.

Foxes - "White Coats (Xaphoon Jones Remix)"

Xaphoon Jones, the beat-making half of Chiddy Bang, has been busy. Aside from touring with Chiddy, he has been releasing remix after remix, and they are all awesome! My personal recent favorite is a remix of "White Coats" by Foxes. Xaph takes the British pop singer's catchy track, adds some dirty synths, and cuts her voice in a way only he can. Enjoy!

Skrillex vs. Adele - "Set Fire To Everybody"

Let's say you like Adele's voice, yet you think her songs lack a certain intensity that is present in other music today. Luckily you can now have both! Someone who goes by ca7 has created a mashup of epic proportions by combining Skrillex and Adele, two of the most popular artists of the past few years. The song combines Adele's "Set Fire To The Rain" with Skrillex's signature womp. If you thought Adele sounded bitter about her breakup before, think again.

James Vincent McMorrow - We Don't Eat Remix

We are always very wary when it comes to remixes of soft acoustic ballads. It's something that is rarely done well and very often done horribly. But when James Vincent McMorrow himself recommended this remix done by Adventure Club of his song "We Don't Eat," we had to check it out. This relaxing, dubsteppy remix of a great tune actually does the song justice! Enjoy!
